William “Bill” Catus, MA, LPC

William A. Catus is the Clinical Director for Life Strategies and a Licensed Professional Counselor. He is licensed by the West Virginia Board of Examiners in Counseling. He has a BS from Concord University and a MA in Professional Counseling from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA.

William’s background includes working with people who have addictions. He enjoys working with a variety of issues. William is also a veteran of the US Military and has a special interest in working with clients who have PTSD. William is also a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and Multicultural Counseling.  William resides with his wife in the Beckley area and attends Heart of God Ministries.

Nancy Carlson, MSW, LICSW

Nancy’s specialties include marital/relationship, women’s issues, and complex PTSD.

Nancy was previously director of Wilderness Challenge School, a treatment program for court-referred teens in Norfolk, Virginia, and has also worked as a therapist in community mental health.

She has degrees from West Virginia University and Old Dominion University and is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker.  Nancy and her husband have four children, both biological and adopted. She loves reading, animals, homemaking, and outdoor activities.

Jason Moore, MSW, LICSW

Jason Moore is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, and a Masters of Social Work, both from Concord University. He is also a member of the National Association of Social Workers and has an extensive history is service and networking in the Southern West Virginia region. He has enjoyed twenty-plus years of ministering and serving in this area of the state.

Jason has a passion and heart to equip and serve individuals, couples, and families in our area to make the most of the opportunities to grow and change that they encounter. He offers dynamic counsel and therapy in all these categories to help ensure the challenges can be met and overcome in all the lives he engages. With a strong emphasis on mind and heart change, Jason seeks to draw on the client’s current life situation to help them meet the needs of the moment, while also preparing for future challenges.

Jason has a background in leadership, training, and group dynamics after over 25 years in the workforce. His skill set has served him well as he has served his clients in clinical social work. He lives with his wife and children in Raleigh County.

Kim Harrison, MA, LSW, LPC

Kim Harrison joined Life Strategies in March 2019. She has worked in the behavioral health field for more than 25 years, Graduated from Marshall University in 2004 with a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology, and has completed course work in Marshall’s Counseling program for professional development. Kim is a Licensed Social Worker by the West Virginia Board of Social Work Examiners and a Licensed Professional Counselor by the West Virginia Board of Examiners in Counseling. Identifying a passion to help children, youth, adults, and families with difficult life situations, past trauma, depression, anger, anxiety, and substance abuse conditions.

Kim, a lifelong native of the Charleston area, is active in her church. Kim has served in children and youth ministries for more than 12 years and is a regular camp counselor for WV Baptist “Camp Cowen”. She enjoys camping, concerts, and spending time with her friends and her numerous nieces and nephews.

Rachel Miley, MA, LPC, CCTP

Rachel is a Licensed Professional Counselor whose professional experiences include treatment of depression, anxiety, trauma, addictions, relationship difficulties, and caregiver stressors.  She has worked in a variety of settings that include private practice, community-agency, a crisis stabilization unit, and the outpatient portion of a behavioral health hospital. She is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and has a particularly avid interest in the treatment of abuse-related trauma.

Rachel is a native of southern West Virginia and possesses a love for and interest in the culture of our area.  She lives with her husband in Princeton, WV, and is active in her local church.  Her favorite activities are Bible study and spending time with her family.

Drew Johnson, BS, MA, LPC

Drew Johnson is a West Virginia native. He graduated with his BS in Psychology with a Life Coaching Cognate, and earned his Masters Degree in Professional Counseling, both from Liberty University.

Drew spent his internship with Life Strategies and moved on to work as a crisis counselor and behavior specialist at Oak Hill High School. Specializing in children and adolescent development, he works to help troubled youth find a path forward to success. This experience has afforded Drew the opportunity to introduce Neurofeedback into his practice where he continues to help people grow towards their greatest potential. Drew’s work transcends the school system and adapts well to any/all therapeutic needs throughout the life of the developing human, from childhood to the elderly.

Life Strategies is excited to bring Drew and Neurofeedback as yet another one of the exceptional therapies here at Life Strategies.

Lori Petry, MA, LPC

Lori received her education in professional counseling from Liberty University, a CACREP Accredited Professional Counseling program. She is also credentialed as board-certified through the National Board of Certified Counselors. She is licensed by the West Virginia Board of Examiners in Counseling.
Lori lives with her husband and son in Raleigh County. She enjoys the mountains and spending time with her family. An avid reader, she enjoys a variety of professional and recreational reading. Lori is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Chi Sigma Iota Honor Society. Lori especially loves assisting anxious and depressed clients to find a measure of peace and confidence in their daily lives.

Kirsten Daniel, BA, MSW, LGSW

Kirsten Daniel received her BA in Psychology from West Virginia University – Institute of Technology and her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Concord University. Kirsten excelled during her internship with Life Strategies. Upon graduation, she immediately joined the professional team as a therapist.

Kirsten has been successful with children, teens, and older adults. Clients enjoy both her humor and kindness. Someone remarked,” She just gets me.” Kirsten incorporates a strengths-based approach in collaboration with clients.  She holds the strong belief that each client has ‘built-in’ resiliency. By tapping into the things they are already doing well, she encourages them to address current obstacles. Kirsten emphasizes skill-building habits clients can use for a lifetime.  

As a West Virginia native, Kirsten has a passion for working in this community. She resides in Raleigh County and is an active member of her church. Some of her hobbies include hiking, spending time with family and friends, reading, and gardening.

Wilson Smith, BSW, MSW, LGSW

Wilson Smith received a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree from Concord University. Following his internship with Life Strategies, he immediately joined the staff as a therapist.  He is licensed by the West Virginia Social Work Examiners at the Licensed Graduate level.

Wilson was born in Puerto Rico but moved with his family at a young age to West Virginia. Wilson is like a caring older brother. He loves this corner of the world and is excited to serve the people of southern West Virginia.

Wilson resides in Raleigh County and is an active member in his local church where he has been involved in leading youth activities for several years. Some of his favorite pastimes include spending time with family and friends, listening to music, birdwatching, and reading.

Stephanie Todd,
 MA, Provisionally Licensed Counselor

Stephanie Todd received her Masters Degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. Her multi-faceted approach focuses on providing individualized, tailored treatment in a safe and welcoming environment. She has experience working with a diverse population treating depression, anxiety, OCD, bipolar, addiction, and relationship issues. She has specialized interests and training in trauma, women’s issues, and grief.

In working with clients, Stephanie addresses the whole person providing education to build knowledge, coping skills to increase resiliency, and addressing lifestyle issues to support overall well-being. Her desire is to not only help her clients overcome their current obstacles but to experience personal growth, accomplishment, and inner transformation along the way.

Stephanie and her husband are native West Virginians and have a deep love for the mountains they call home. She enjoys camping, kayaking, photography, and reading.

Jeffrey W. Tilden, MDiv, DMIN, MA, 
Jeff received his bachelor’s degree from West Virginia Wesleyan College, his Master of Divinity from Drew Theological School, his Doctor of Ministry from Biblical Theological Seminary, and his master’s degree, with distinction, in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. He is provisionally licensed by the West Virginia Board of Examiners in Counseling. Jeff is also a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors.  Both his education and many years in pastoral ministry have uniquely equipped Jeff to work with individuals, couples, and families from both spiritual and non-spiritual backgrounds. He has experience with a variety of issues such as anxiety, depression, substance use disorders, interpersonal relationships, marital difficulties, aging and caregiving, vocational counseling, stress management, conflict resolution, and crisis intervention.  
Working together with his clients, Jeff seeks to explore issues, identify strengths, and discover practical solutions that will increase self-understanding and bring healing to the whole person. In sessions, he uses a cognitive/behavioral approach to wellness and incorporates applications from a variety of disciplines.    
Jeff lives in Summers County with his wife where he is active in his local church and in the community. In his leisure time, he enjoys spending time with his children and grandchildren, working on the farm, home repairs, camping, and hiking.

Missy Edwards, MA, LPC

Missy received her Masters Degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University.  She retired from 33 years of teaching in Raleigh County Public Schools teacher. Her extensive experience with pre-teen and teenage students, is a perfect fit for her second career as a therapist.  Her sweet spirit and confidence is appreciated by young and old alike.  “Depression and anxiety are keeping us and our children from so many good things!” She specializes in depression and anxiety treatment at Life Strategies.

Missy is a Licensed Professional Counselor, licensed by the State of West Virginia Counseling Board of Examiners.  She also received a B.A. in Music Education from West Liberty University (WV) and an M.A.  in Music Education from Shenandoah University (VA). She is active in her church and enjoys reading, music, and spending time with family and friends.  She and her husband reside in Raleigh County.

Yosely Cruz-Fernandez, MSN, APRN-CNP, PMHNP, ACNP

Yosely Cruz-Fernandez is a board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. Yosely completed her bachelor’s in nursing from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and her Master’s Degrees were from the University of Detroit Mercy and Wayne State University. She obtained her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Vanderbilt University and her Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner degree from Regis College.

Working in many diverse areas across the country, Yosely’s experience includes neuroscience, critical care, cardiology, nursing education, nursing administration, executive hospital leadership, and psychiatry. She has been an advanced practice nurse/Nurse Practitioner for the past 12 years. Her work experiences in both large metropolitan areas and rural areas, with limited access to health care, have ignited a passion for providing access to affordable, quality mental health care.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, kids, and animals.

Lisa Kuhn Office Manager

Lisa Kuhn joined Life Strategies in 2014 to work with insurance billing. As she showed great adeptness, her job quickly evolved into overseeing the financial management of the organization and eventually included being in charge of the support staff. Lisa’s educational background includes bookkeeping, medical coding, and billing. Her previous work includes 10 years in financial institutions. Lisa resides with her family in the Raleigh County area.
